around MMU 9th Convocation 2008

“... Do you see the fields beneath the clouds?
With stars as trails to lead you out
Can you sense the pain that’s everywhere?
And if you try you’ll never care
And the love you had when you were young
Is right outside for all to come
Because your life is full of pure desire
A place so gloriously wired
And it’s like our world, And we’re the last ones left
Are you curious? Please stay, don’t go, I’ve got you now …”

Last week was my convocation. It was great. I know my parents is the most happiest parent in the world. MMU 9th Convocation 2008 was held for 3 days. I received my scroll on Sunday from Tan Sri Ir Muhammad Radzi Hj. Mansor. All of us were hoping to receive our scroll from Tun Dr Siti Hasmah, the Chancellor however she only gave away the scroll on Saturday and Monday, leaving us behind gave by the Pro-Chancellor, Ir. Muhammad Radzi Hj. Mansor on Sunday. We were quite disappointed by that. Lucky for those who got from Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah. The ceremony start at 8:30 in the morning and ends at 12:30 afternoon. I was flattered to see how the time were managed with full punctuality. During the convo, that the time where we reunite again with our old classmates. So majority of us would share life updates as I would share mine here online.
Majority of us already secured a job and a number would say they’re attending interviews. Take note that the very same week convocation for MMU is the convocation for University Malaya. The next week will be for UTM and UKM simultaneously. Imagine a university would produce overall 3000 graduates thus this week alone 6000 degree holders
were officially produced. That makes a total rate of 12 000 graduates in a month. So to secure a job nowadays are very tough. I consider myself lucky to got a job less than 1 month after I left MMU. Back in our fathers’ days, the job were looking for us. But today, it turned out to be the other way around as the world coming to its end thus everything is getting upside down. Have you come to situation where you felt so hard to leave the life you had for so many years and all of the sudden you had to leave it behind? I bet you all did, right? To be frank, I found student life was the best. There are no time constraint, no plans & you can do whatever, where ever & whenever you want too! But now, at my age, it’s the dawn of my working life. Back in Melaka where I spend most of my student life, we did have a lot of times which covers from fun to heartbreak memories. Haha. I believe most of our time would channel during the night time. Why is so? Because all of us are active during the night! Haha. What activity would we all do at night? A lot! Got one time we went i) cycling from Melaka to Port Dickson from 12.00 pm to 10.00 the morning. ii) Climbing 3 mountain tops in 5 days. iii) Went to the ruins o
f Saint Paul’s Church at midnight. iv) Went to Chinese cemetery at midnight. v) parties from night till next evening. vi)play Counter-Strike. Why do you do all this stupids things???? The answer is simple: the adrenalin was great! How many of you who working out there get to experience such experience? But we did. These experience taught us to be more daring, more brave and most important to be confident. This unwanted experience had taught us to be more careful in decision making thus elevate us to become a better person. Having yourself to attend university is just not about attending the classes and learn what they teach you there. But there’s more than just flipping the books that they have in the library. I am talking about outside the gates of the academic building itself. Even my lecturer with PhD qualification said so. He added that not many of the facts you learn gonna be applied in your work. Only 10% but the other 90% is outside the syllabus of the
course you took. So this 90% you yourself have to look after it. And this what makes highly educated people thinks differently from non-educated people. I pretty much think he’s definitely correct. Enough said and I truly agree with him. I saw some people with poor attitude are normally with decent qualification. Agree? I believe majority of the graduates learn not just in the class, but more outside the class themselves. Some would found their love life during the student life, some are not. In my case I couldn’t find mine. Wakaka. Arr ? Whatever! If I couldn’t find one I ask my mama to find for me lah. Easy oni. Somebody told me there are 100 000 girls running loose in KL. So one way or another I will find one. Haha. As I
just got a new job, I’m not ‘quite ready’ to settle with such commitment I think it really takes time to find a life partner otherwise you’ll regret. I need to fix my time since working requires a lot of running here all over. Also, I am now financially independent. So it takes time to suit in. For those of you would like to study in MMU, mark my words. In my mechanical class of ‘08 alone there only 5 Malays out of 200 plus graduates. Along the way, some dropped out, changed course, start working, shifted to so-called Universiti ini Tolong Melayu (UiTM) and some missing in action. Thus for Malays who want to study in MMU out there, its gonna be a tremendous challenge. Only the strong will finish the race regardless either you win or not. At that moment you will know what are you made of. Steel or wood? By telling this it is baseless to tell me I’m a racist. Those who know me personally will understand what kind of person I truly am. Anyhow, it’s just a reminder anyway, not an act of racism. Naah, I mix around with Chinese and Indians, they don’t scare me at all. Haha sounds like Russel Peters.
I missed the good old days in Melaka and will keep on missing them. The Ikan bakar Umbai, Baba ais kacang, Jonker Walk, Portuguese Settlement, Salmah, Infasha, 663, Subaidah, Jiki, MP, JJ, Eleven, Jetty, Pure, Cube including the names which I am reluctant to mention. Haha. You know, people moved on so am I. Goodbye to student life, welcome working life (but I still woke up late during the weekends…wakaka).
Till then, I wish all my MMU friends congratulations! All the best and keep in touch. p.s.: Sorry for the late but I think this entry title is not related to the topic. Wakaka. ![]()

I will always miss student life…I have a learned a lot from this life…the experience is priceless…It’s better to come to a place far away frm home to study…I have became more independent and a more all rounded person…WE may criticize MMU’s management, or facilities etc….but somehow we manage to find our way and learn things the hard way (through frens or copy-paste
) and honestly speaking…i think life in mmu is much better then the rest…we become more open minded and with the current situation in the country we should learn to mingle more with other races…not like freaking UiTM (RACIST!!)...i feel honoured making frens with malays, chinese, indians, punjabis, etc…we learn to be more critical and less judgmental…this is one phase in my life i’ll never forget…and jimbit…i feel honoured having a fren like u although u r a freaking UMNO member…the things we talk and the times we have spent is something i’ll never forget…sorry if i scolded u or kutuk u….i knw u r sensitive
hehe take care…congrats…fucker better meet up next weekend….
